The Chalmers Student Union is a student-run organization representing all 13,000 students, working to ensure influence in university decisions, a vibrant student life, and strong career opportunities. With over a century of history, it brings together divisions, committees, societies, and companies to support students academically, socially, and professionally.

Your union card is your proof of membership in the student union. It also makes you eligible for lots of discounts and is needed during exams and for accessing most buildings and locations on campus.

Help & Support
You can contact the student guidance counselor for personalized support with your overall study situation, especially if you:
- Need help planning your studies (e.g., course selection, study pace)
- Feel unmotivated or are struggling with your mental wellbeing
- Are considering dropping out or taking a break from studies
- Have trouble connecting with fellow students
- Want general advice or a confidential conversation to reflect and make informed decisions
They focus on your wellbeing, motivation, and study planning—not just academics.
You should contact the director of studies for subject-related and administrative academic questions, such as:
- Course content, course selection, or degree requirements
- Credit transfers or exemptions from previous courses
- Planning exchange studies and ensuring credits can be transferred
- Questions about whether you're on track to meet graduation requirements
They handle the technical and structural parts of your studies and help maintain programme quality.

Safety & Welfare
The SAMO of the computer science division, Carl Malmgren, provides support and advice on study and work environment issues. SAMO is always a good first step if you don't know where else to turn.
Contact SAMOSafe at Chalmers is a platform for reporting and addressing harassment and discrimination, offering support and resources for affected individuals.
